Qatari cultural minister visits Iran National Library

TEHRAN, Jan. 25 (MNA) -- Qatar’s Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari called the Iran National Library and Archive (INLA) the glory of the Islamic world.

Al Kuwari, who paid a visit to the INLA on Monday, calling the library the “cultural and academic heritage of Iranians” that can have a crucial role in uniting Iran with other nations.

He expressed his hope for further cultural cooperation between the national libraries of two countries after the cultural delegation’s visit to the INLA.

“We will do our best to establish a Qatar chamber at the INLA as soon as possible through the signing of agreements between the two countries,” he mentioned.

He penned a note in the memorial notebook of the library after his visit, an excerpt of his note is below:

“Great nations care about books and Iran is one of those nations since it is concerned about books and libraries.”

He also congratulated Iran as a “brother government” on behalf of the Qatar government and expressed his hopes for increased cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Iran will be the guest of honor at the 2011 Doha International Book Fair by invitation of Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari.

In addition, Al Kuwari paid a visit to the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) where he met Iranian Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi and TMCA curator Mahmud Shaluii.
